Most large furniture will not go through a doorway assembled, and a lot of it will not survive being forced through. Wardrobes, corner sofas, bed frames and fitted kitchens come apart, travel flat and go back together — that is normal practice, not damage.
The part that goes wrong when a move is improvised is the fittings. Cam locks, dowels, shelf pins and the specific bolts for one particular bed end up in a single shared bag, or in nobody's pocket at all. We bag and label the fittings for each piece separately, and they travel with that piece.
We assemble to the manufacturer's instructions rather than by eye. For flat-pack systems that matters more than it sounds: the same wardrobe assembled in the wrong order stands, but its doors never sit straight again.

How it works
We decide what actually has to come apart
Not everything does. Taking apart furniture that would have gone through the door assembled is extra risk for no reason, so during the survey we check the doorways, the turns and the stairwell first.
Disassembly with the fittings kept
Each piece is taken apart in the right order, and its fittings go into a labelled bag attached to that piece. Doors, glass and shelves are wrapped separately.
Assembly at the new address
We reassemble to the manufacturer's specification, level everything and adjust the doors and drawers so they close properly. A wardrobe that stands but does not shut is not finished work.
Mounting on walls
Shelves, mirrors, televisions and kitchen units are fixed to the wall with anchors matched to what the wall is actually made of — a plasterboard partition and a concrete wall need different hardware.
What affects the price
How many pieces and how complex
A bed and a wardrobe are an hour or two. A fitted kitchen or a whole office of workstations is a day's work for a team. Complexity matters more than count.
Fitted versus free-standing
Built-in wardrobes and kitchens are dismantled and rebuilt to the room, not just unscrewed. They take longer and need a fitter rather than a mover.
Whether it is part of a move
Ordered together with a move it is part of the package and costs less. Ordered on its own — for new furniture, or a room being rearranged — it is priced as a separate visit.
Wall mounting and its hardware
Fixing things to walls needs drilling, anchors and sometimes finding out what is behind the plaster. Priced by the number of points and the type of wall.
Questions about this service
Will my wardrobe survive being taken apart?
Solid wood and quality flat-pack, yes — repeatedly. Cheap chipboard with glued cam fittings is the risky category: after several disassemblies the holes stop holding. We say so before starting, not afterwards, and where it is safer to move a piece assembled we will tell you that too.
Can you assemble furniture I bought myself?
Yes. IKEA, Turkish and local flat-pack, office systems — we assemble what you bought, with your instructions, whether or not you are moving.
What if a fitting is missing or breaks?
Standard fittings — cam locks, dowels, shelf pins, common bolts — we carry with us and replace on the spot. Anything specific to one manufacturer we identify and tell you exactly what to order.
Do you dismantle kitchens with the appliances in them?
Yes. Appliances are disconnected, packed separately and reinstalled at the new address. Gas connections are the exception: those must be done by the licensed gas service, and we coordinate around them.
