Moving from Baku to Georgia
The closest border we cross and the shortest international move we run — often no longer than a trip to Ganja and back.
Georgia is the easy international direction, and it is worth saying so plainly: two to four days door to door, one border, a road that is in good condition, and destinations — Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi — that are all within a day's drive of the crossing.
Because it is short, the whole shape of the job changes. There is no case for air freight and none for sea; a truck does it, and for smaller consignments a part load does it cheaply. What still needs care is the border: customs is where a Georgian move gains or loses its days.
There is also a rail option on this corridor, since the line to Turkey runs through Georgia. For household moves it is rarely the right answer — the terminal legs at both ends cost more than they save over such a short distance — but for freight volumes it is worth pricing.
How the route works
Full load, two to four days
Loaded at your address in Baku, through the border, unloaded at your address in Tbilisi or Batumi. Nothing is transferred between vehicles.
Part load for smaller consignments
A few rooms of furniture or a pallet of goods does not need its own truck. You pay for the space, and the vehicle is filled before it leaves.
The border is the variable
The drive is predictable; the crossing is not always. Documents prepared in advance are what keep the range at two to four days rather than open-ended.

Companies moving staff or an office to Tbilisi. Equipment packed separately, inventoried, and set up again in the same configuration.

Full and part loads, regular runs rather than one-off charters. Documents, customs and delivery to the consignee included.
Frequent questions
How long does a move from Baku to Tbilisi take?
Two to four days door to door for a full load. The drive is under a day; the range comes from the border crossing. Batumi and Kutaisi add roughly a day for the onward leg.
Can I follow the shipment on the way to Tbilisi?
Yes, by the tracking number in your contract, at buddy-mover.com/tracking. The drive is short, but the border is the part nobody can predict — and that is exactly what the page shows: when the vehicle reached the crossing and when it left it. Our team manually records progress updates; this is not live GPS tracking.
Is it cheaper to send a part load?
Considerably, if your consignment is small. You pay for the space you occupy rather than for a whole vehicle, at the cost of some extra days while the truck is filled.
Do I need to be present at the border?
No. The driver carries the documents and clearance is handled by us on the Azerbaijani side and by our partner agent in Georgia. You are involved in preparing the paperwork, not in standing at the crossing.
Can you move a car or other vehicle?
That is a separate procedure from household goods, with its own documents and its own duty treatment. Tell us what the vehicle is and we will say whether we can carry it and what it requires.
